Interior Carpentry Across MD, DC and Northern VA
Nothing in an older house is square, and interior carpentry is mostly the craft of making that not show. Trim that follows a wavy wall, a built-in scribed into an out-of-plumb corner, a door hung so it stays shut in August as well as January.
Interior Carpentry We Do
Trim and millwork, built-ins and shelving, stair parts, and interior doors hung and adjusted. Where a house has moved, the work is scribed to what is there rather than cut to what the drawing says should be there.

Trim and Millwork
Baseboard, casing, crown and chair rail, mitred and coped to the walls you actually have.
Built-Ins and Shelving
Alcove units, window seats and shelving, scribed into corners that are rarely at ninety degrees.
Stairs and Railings
Treads, risers, newels, balusters and handrail, including replacing parts on an existing flight.
Interior Doors
Hung, shimmed and adjusted so they latch cleanly and stay that way through a humid summer.

What We Are Usually Called To
The situations that bring people to this page.
My trim has gaps at every corner. Can that be fixed?
Usually, yes. Corners open up because the joint was mitred rather than coped, or because the wall behind it is out of plumb. Both are fixable without replacing every length.
Can you match trim in an older house?
Often. Profiles can be matched from a cut sample, and where they cannot, the closest available is agreed with you before anything is ordered.
My door sticks in summer only.
That is the door and the frame moving with humidity. It is an adjustment rather than a replacement in most cases.

How the Project Runs

- 3You get the scope and the price in writing, including what happens where the house has moved.
- 4The work is scribed and fitted on site rather than cut to a drawing.
- 5Joints are filled and caulked ready for paint, and the site is left clean.
