Government Program
Will Prince George's County help pay for home repairs?
By All Purpose Anytime Services LLC
It might. Prince George's County runs two home repair programs, HOPP and HRAP, administered with Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland. They pay for roofs, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, water heaters and accessibility work.
What the county offers
The county lists repair services worth up to $30,000, and up to $50,000 for households below 50 percent of area median income. HRAP also offers a 0 percent loan of up to $60,000 with no monthly payment.
The $50,000 tier turns on how your household income compares with the area median, and the county does that math, not you or us. HRAP works differently from the repair services. It is a loan at 0 percent with nothing due each month, so ask Habitat when it has to be paid back, for example at a sale, before you sign.
Those figures were current as of October 2026. The county and Habitat decide who is eligible and what each home receives.
How to start
Contact Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland, which administers both programs for the county. Ask which program fits your household and what paperwork they need.
Our part
The county and Habitat have not signed us up as a HOPP or HRAP contractor, and we do not apply on your behalf. Most of the program's list, roofs, wiring, plumbing systems, heating and water heaters, is not work we do on this site.
Prince George's County sits well inside the 30 miles around Washington that we cover, and we have location pages for Bowie and Upper Marlboro. Accessibility is the part of the list we take on. If someone in the house needs a ramp, grab bars set into blocking, a wider doorway or a shower with no curb, we can measure it and send a written estimate with each item priced. If the program lets you choose the contractor, or you go ahead on your own, we can do the work.
Services this program can pay for
On this site that means accessibility remodeling, and a bathroom rebuilt for safer access.
